:RUSSIAN NOUNS

All the russian nouns belong to one of the three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. And it's fairly easy to understand what category the word belongs to

FIRST, look at the "natural" gender which means the sex of the being. for exemple: мужчина man/ сестра sister.. so according to that сестра is a feminine noun and мужчина is a masculine one

:SECOND, look at the ending of the noun

MASCULINE nouns end with a consonant or й

Óфис office/ Стол table/ Стул chair/ Чай tea

FEMININE nouns end with a or я

Газéта newspaper/ Москвá moscow/ Семвья family

Neuter nouns end with о а or e

Мópe sea/ Упражнéние exercice

Врéмя time & Имя name are two neuter nouns

INDECLINABLE nouns of foreign origin (ending with ао, ау, и, у, ю,э)

Most of these words are neuter for exemple: Какáo cacao/ Такси taxi/ Каратэ karate/ Меию menu

?What if the soft sign (ь) is in the ending

It's a quite tricky but 3/4 of cases the noun would be FEMININE and the rest  are MASCULINE and here some guidelines

:FEMININE

Natural gender again like Мать mother

All nouns in жь, чь, шь, щь, мь, пь, фь, знь

All nouns in сть ехcept for Гость guest and Тесть father-in-law

:MASCULINE

Natural gender again like Зять king

Most nouns in тель like Учитель teacher

Most noun in арь like Пекарь baker

All the months of the year

The only difficult thing is the words ending with the soft sign ь in masculine because i've said most of the nouns are masculine and not all of the nouns
With more russian vocabulary you will be fine with the genders
